Our visit on the 10th August was to not one but two gardens just over the bridge at Henley. There was a very marked contrast in the gardens. Rose Cottage, as its name implies was delightful. A long narrow garden extending to a woodland area through windy paths with many of our favourite flowers still full of colour in spite of the summer moving along. A short walk took us to the second garden on offer,Woodlands, where after the compactness of Rose Cottage we found ourselves in a vast area of grassland surrounding a large house on elevated ground. Parts of the garden were a bit neglected but it was pleasant to have a cup of tea and a slice of cake on the expansive lawns as the day was rather warm. There was a general consensus of opinion that the first garden was much preferred.
