Make do & Mend at the Cartshed Cafe

Lovely evening on Wednesday 5th January at the Cartshed cafe in Preston Crowmarsh for a good cause – Marie Curie.
WI members provided some advice and help to young mums to recycle and revive their wardrobes and also had an opportunity to look at vintage and pre-loved garments. The food was also delicious.

Christmas evening at the Red Lion

The evening started with Santa on his sleigh just leaving the pub as we arrived. Glass of wine in hand we moved to the tables. Helen briefly announced there was no business and a cheer went up.

Our food choices were on brightly coloured stars – colour co-ordinated so staff knew what main course to serve. (Excellent idea Helen).

After the main course one line swapped with the other table and we opened our Secret Santa presents. Such a lot of ingenuity!

The food was lovely and when Charlie the chef put his head out of the kitchen he was greeted with a round of applause.

A wonderful evening was had by all.

Waddesdon Christmas Light Trail and Decorated House

On 28th November, three members (Annette, Helena and Janis) and a non-member visited Waddesden’s Christmas lights and market.  The Manor was beautifully decorated, each room being themed with a different Christmas song, carol or storiy.   We managed to tick off some Christmas presents from our gift lists as there were some very attractive stalls in the market and also a good range of Rothschild wines in the gift shop.

Knitters Christmas gathering

Every year the knitting group meet in early December in the Church Room for a festive meal. We usually bring and share but as we had funds this time we got Relish & Savour to cater for us.

16 of us enjoyed wonderful food and some fizz while a certain amount of knitting did get done.

Three members visited Hidcote gardens last Thursday 4 th July. It was a beautiful day with lots of sunshine but not too hot.
The gardens were crammed with colour, not least with these incredible delphiniums, and the whole place looked amazing. All in all a most enjoyable day!

Village Fete 2019

On the hottest day of the year so far the village held its annual fete, this time at Moreton House.

Our Branch had a stall – produce and plants – we also had some alternatives to the use of plastics. Eastlyn made some wax wraps and Helen some soap bags.

We also sold some delicious cakes and quite a lot of plants. There are still some plants outside my house so if you missed any do pick them up.

Altogether the stall made £252.90 and increase on last year. So well done all who manned the stall and those who supported us too.
